Practice Schedule Reminder

The band will practice 3:30-5:00 each Monday and 3:30-6:00 on Tuesday and Thursday. During the week of contest, the band will practice 3:30-6:00 Monday-Thursday.  All students are expected to be at all rehearsals and performances. 

New Adult Volunteer Procedures Announced

The Lowndes County Schools have recently updated the mandatory forms and requirements for adults volunteering with the schools.  This includes everyone that works with our band in any capacity.  The only exception are those parents who are employed full time by the school system.  All chaperones, drivers, nurses, uniform volunteers, etc. must complete the three forms and view a powerpoint presentation.  The necessary forms must be turned in with a copy of your license. 

If you volunteer with the band in any capacity please make plans to be in attendance.  Anyone that has not completed this training by September 8th cannot volunteer with the school system.  To review the procedures and the forms that must be turned in please click this link:

Fall Contest Announced

The Georgia Bridgemen will be in competition twice this fall and need a strong presence to support our students!   The first contest is the 17th Annual Heart of Georgia Marching Band Invitational on October 4th.  It will be held in Warner Robins, GA at McConnell-Talbert Stadium.  This will be the end of a long day that begins with the band marching in the Annual Hahira Honeybee Parade at noon.  Exact times will be announced closer, but please plan on a full day!

The very next Saturday, (October 11th) the Bridgemen will be participating in the 21st Annual Hurricane Pride Invitational Marching Band Festival being held at Citrus High School in Inverness, Florida.  This event is similar to our own Battle on the Border, with a preliminaries/finals format, so once again be prepared for a long day.

Performance times will be announced by the host bands after their application deadline passes.  We will announce our schedule as soon as it is finalized. In addition to the contests mentioned above, the band will perform in exhibition at the Southern Open at Valdosta High’s Bazemore-Hyder Stadium on Tuesday night, September 23rd.  This is a great practice opportunity for our kids to sharpen their skills prior to entering the contest season.  Exact performance times have not been announced.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Cards are available during each band practice in the band barn area.  If the band has moved due to weather, they will be available wherever the band is.

GA Bridgemen to Raffle Golf Cart

The Lowndes High GA Bridgemen will be selling raffle tickets for the opportunity to win a custom built golf cart!  Each week during football season watch for the cart to make its appearance during halftime!  Tickets are only $5 and the drawing will be held Friday, November 7th at halftime.  Tickets go on sale August 22nd!  If you are interested in displaying the golf cart and selling tickets during the week at your business, please contact Matt Hart.

 Washington DC/NYC Key Deadline Nears


Those individuals that are signed up to attend the May 2015 trip to Washington DC and NYC have a key date approaching!

We are required to send a non-refundable payment of $250 per person to our Tour Company on September 5th and that makes this date a very important one.  By now each person on the trip should have made two payments that total $300.  Anyone that is not at this level needs to catch their trip account up immediately.  This will allow us to stay on our schedule and not risk losing some of our attractions that require deposits.

If you are not current in your payments we may not any choice but to remove you from the trip.  It also needs to be restated that anyone that elects to not participate in the trip after we have made payments on their behalf, that those monies are non-refundable.

If you have any questions about the status of your account, please do not hesitate to contact Laurie Abney, Treasurer of Student Accounts.  This notice also serves as the “last call” for those families that have been considering the trip.  We are quickly approaching a point where we cannot easily add additional people.
